FIT Testing

All patients between the ages of 60-74 are offered bowel cancer screening. This screening process looks for blood in your bowel motions. When you receive your invitation you need to do a faecal sample and return it following the instructions provided . This is called a FIT test.  If blood is found you are offered further investigations to see if you have bowel cancer.

Your Doctor may however ask you to do a FIT test outside of the screening process as part of investigating your symptoms. In this case you will be asked to return your sample to the surgery and instructions will be provided. Please find more information below about FIT testing.
